More Homes Are Hitting the Market — Is It Time To Restart Your Search?

According to Redfin’s Chief Economist, Daryl Fairweather:

“Now is the best time to buy in the last two years. Mortgage rates are comparable to what they were two years ago, and prices remain high. However, there is significantly more inventory . . .”

That last part is key. Inventory is finally on the rise, and if you’ve been waiting for the right time to re-enter the market, this spring could be your moment.

Sellers Are Stepping Back In

In recent months, we’ve seen a steady increase in new listings — meaning more homes are being put on the market by homeowners who are ready to move up, downsize, relocate, or just make a change.

That’s great news for everyone — buyers have more to choose from, and sellers who were waiting on the sidelines are finding opportunities too.

The Spring Market Is Picking Up Steam

And it’s not just month-to-month growth we’re seeing. Compared to this time last year, there’s been a noticeable jump in new listings. According to Realtor.com, March saw a 10.2% increase in new listings year-over-year — making it the most active March for new listings since 2021.

So if you've been waiting for that "perfect" home to appear, there's a good chance it's finally coming to market. But with more options comes more competition — so being prepared matters.
