Facts about Richland Chambers Lake

Size:

The lake covers 41,356 acres and has 330 miles of shoreline. It's the third largest inland reservoir by surface area and the eighth largest by water volume in Texas.

Shape:

The lake is Y-shaped, with one arm running west and the other northwest. The dam is located at the eastern end of the lake.

Depth:

The lake's maximum depth is 75 feet.

Location:

The lake is situated in Navarro and Freestone counties, east-southeast of Corsicana on US 287, and less than 60 miles from Dallas.

Purpose:

The Tarrant Regional Water District owns and operates the lake for water supply, flood control, irrigation, and recreation.

Features:

The lake includes private marinas, docks, and ramps, as well as several public access ramps created by the TRWD. The Richland Creek Wildlife Management Area (RCWMA) is located on the lake's southeastern border to compensate for habitat losses caused by the lake's construction.

Fish:

The lake is home to many fish species, including white and hybrid striped bass, blue and channel catfish, largemouth bass, crappie, smallmouth buffalo, and carp. Other important species include gizzard and threadfin shad, and bluegill.
